Linguistic Autobiographies

Linguistic autobiographies are personal stories where people reflect on their experiences with language, accents, and multilingualism. As part of the CIRCE project, these stories were collected from secondary school and university students in Italy, Bosnia, Germany, and Portugal, offering a rich tapestry of voices and perspectives.Students are invited to read and reflect on these narratives, discovering how language shapes identity and everyday life. Teachers can use them creatively in the classroom, supported by lesson plans in the CIRCE Handbook, or adapt them in new ways to spark discussion, exploration, and critical thinking about language and diversity.

Below you can find a short preview of the content of the autobiographies.

Given the sensitive nature of the autobiographical content and in accordance with the informed consent provided by participants, the texts are not openly accessible. However, detailed information about the collection is available on Zenodo, and access to the recordings can be granted upon request for research or educational purposes.

We invite you to learn more about the collections and contact us if you are interested in accessing the materials.
